Woke up this morning and this summer's gone....Happy Autumn!
But we are not going to let the
summer go completely there is still a chance to cast a line one last time.
Here are some thoughts waiting for that last striper to bite.
When did coercive methods become "..the single most potent tool we have in protecting america and foiling terrorist attacks" in the words of the president? Did he not read the 9/11 commission report? Everything needed to foil that attack lay in various agencies hands for weeks if not months prior to the terrorist strike. What the heck happen?
How about the methods used at Abu Garab? What did they produce other than anger and horror across not only on the Arab street but the rest of the world as well. Therefore making the job of coalition troops much more difficult and dangerous in the long run. Whose was resposible?
It is our adherence to the rule of law and international cooperation that's our true strengths. Those ideals that deliniate us from dark vision we fight.
Sadly few pundits have taken up this Ideals and fought for them. No major news anchor has come out in commentary and taken on this administration's policies. A "Walter" moment so to speak. Why are they waiting?
This new agreement between the Senate and the Administration is a sellout of basic principles the nation was founded upon. The Senators that made many folks proud by standing up for these principles have disappointed with their abandonment of them.
The Republican Party has move to positions many voters, regardless of the party policies on taxes and other social issues, will not follow.
